Description of Organization

What we offer

Team Rubicon is an international non-profit disaster response organization that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans, first responders and kick-ass civilians to rapidly deploy disaster response teams free of charge to communities affected by disaster.

Location/Structure in Ontario:

Team Rubicon Canada is a veteran-led international and domestic disaster response organization with a volunteer based across Canada. We currently maintain operation hubs in Alberta and Ontario. Team Rubicon leverages the abilities and experiences of our volunteers to deploy highly skilled disaster response teams to support communities and organizations affected by natural disaster. These capabilities include, but are not limited to, Incident Management Assistance Teams to aid in crisis planning and disaster management; Infrastructure Support such as rapid damage assets, hazard mitigations, light demo, debris removal and mold remediation; Disaster Mapping and Work Order Management; and Spontaneous Volunteer Management (type 4 emergent groups). All of our teams deploy as self-sustaining units with all equipment and resources necessary to provide our capabilities, ensuring minimal impact and burden on the affected communities.

Team Rubicon has responded to numerous natural disasters. The flexibility of our team allows us to operate in two distinct ways.

1. Team Rubicon can act as a Tactical Branch, Single Resource Unit or Task force, we can work under the direction of a governmental entity or agency (based on requested function) and we can integrate fully into an existing Incident Command System structure to perform disaster response functions.

2. We a can integrate into the community NGO efforts to contribute to the long term recovery efforts.

Preparedness, Response, Recovery, Restoration

Preparedness

Natural disasters are occurring more and more frequently. We maintain a robust and growing training curriculum to ensure that are our volunteers are prepared to tackle the next response. We actively seek hazard mitigation service projects to at-risk areas and are prepared to offer our training to other organizations, agencies or communities looking to be better equipped to handle disasters.

Response

When disaster strikes, Team Rubicon acts quickly to get boots on the ground as soon as possible. We specialize in Incident Management. We provide damage and impact assessment as well as disaster mapping and work-order management. As soon as our team has identified a need, we deploy volunteers to the location to begin our disaster response.

Recovery

Team Rubicon Canada provides general debris removal, chainsaw operations, light and heavy vehicle operations, structure demolition, muck-out, roof tarping, mold mitigation and remediation, expedient home repair and hazard mitigation.

Capacity: (Human and Material Resources)

Team Rubicon Canada deploys as a self-sustaining unit possessing all equipment and resources necessary to provide our capabilities. This ensures minimal impact and burden on the effected communities. Our organization has leadership located across the nation prepared to build volunteer teams and rapidly respond when disaster strikes. The Team Rubicon global network gives our organization access to more than 70,000 registered volunteers who are willing and able to respond to disaster at a moment’s notice.
